In this paper we review the critical reception given by Niklas Luhmann ́s General Theory of Social Systems to the classical Information Theory, as basis of its postulation of a General Sociological Theory entirely founded on the Theory of Communication. Our hypothesis suggests that the formulation of the synthetic model of communication reformulates the classical model of Shannon, through a replacement of tele-communicative accents by sociological accents.
