Advanced metering infrastructure, challenges to the responsible consumption of domestic utilities in Colombia

Abstract

The objective of this article is to reflect on the impact that the provisions of Resolution 131 of June 25, 2020 (emanating from the Energy and Gas Regulation Commission - CREG), in relation to the measurement of its consumption, based on the installation of a new Intelligent Advanced Metering (AMI) system. The hypothesis that arises from the development of this work, consists in that the companies of domestic public utilities, especially those of electric energy, will achieve greater efficiency in the collection of their portfolio, deferral of investments in infrastructure by the State. The methodology used to achieve the central objective of this article is of a qualitative approach, focused on the analysis of Resolution 131 of June 25, 2020.
